– “Studying Japan and Asia in Kyoto” Program

The “Studying Japan and Asia in Kyoto” Program encompasses a number of Asian Studies subjects taught by instructors at the forefront of academic endeavor worldwide. Carefully planned progression through these subjects will ensure systematic acquisition of knowledge on the societies and cultures of Asia.
The Asian Studies Unit invites global leaders in Asian Studies and Japanese Studies to teach these subjects, which are offered to students across the entire Kyoto University community.

-Long and Short-term Student Exchange

Internationally-recognized experts in Asian Studies and Japanese Studies provide teaching and research guidance to equip students with in-depth knowledge in Asian Studies, Japanese Studies, and related fields. Under a specialized curriculum, later-stage undergraduate and Master’s students and instructors move to and from Kyoto University to undertake specialist studies and earn transferable course credit. Credit transfer is conducted in collaboration with the East Asia Academic Exchange Committee of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), with quality assurance of credit approval and assessment systems guided by the ASEAN Credit Transfer System (ACTS).
