【For KU Students】Kyoto University Intercultural Co-Learning Seminar 2025:Deadline September 24, 2025
This intercultural co-learning seminar will bring together students from Yonsei University and Kyoto University.
As a side event for Kyoto Summer Program (KSP) 2025, the seminar provides an opportunity for the two groups of students to learn together, gain diverse perspectives, and forge new friendships.
All Kyoto University students are welcome to join, regardless of their past participation in the KSP.
*Partial participation in the Special Lecture only or in the Student Discussion Session only is also possible.

Lecturer: Fumitaka WAKAMATSU, Program-Specific Associate Professor, Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences, Kyoto University
Lecture Title: Whaling in Japan: Cultural Politics of Food and Conservation
As a cultural anthropologist, Prof. Wakamatsu has studied the conflict between wildlife conservation and food use, focusing on the controversy over whaling in Japan. He explores the essential question of why humans decide what to eat and what not to eat from the history of whaling and changes in dietary patterns.
[Students Discussion Session]
Joint discussions will be held between Yonsei University students and Kyoto University students on common topics facing countries around the world. Specific topics will be announced later to participants.
