Some of the world's front runners of Analytic Asian philosophy delivered English lectures for the "Introduction to Analytic Asian Philosophy I, II". seven graduate students from Asian countries also participated in one of the lectures. Prof. Deguchi also gave English lectures and seminars on relevant topics. Below are some voices from the students.
• In "Introduction to Analytic Asian Philosophy I", three professors from overseas gave a cutting-edge series of lectures on various topics in Buddhist thought and contemporary philosophy. In the beginning, I felt some difficulties in making questions and writing term papers in English, for instance. But I gradually got used to them and came to realize how important and enjoyable it is to understand, think about and express ideas in English. (student of the Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University)
• In his seminar series "Introduction to Analytic Asian Philosophy II", Prof. Priest of the City University of New York applied contemporary theories, such as non-classical logic and metaphysics, to a wide range of Buddhist thought. He offered fresh treatment of these topics and greatly enhanced my understanding of them. I was pleasantly surprised by the closeness of the philosophy community in Kyoto University. Prof. Deguchi is an excellent teacher who commands a great deal of respect as well as love from his students. I can imagine that studying philosophy here would be both enjoyable and enriching. (graduate student of National University of Singapore)
• Three months stay in Kyoto University enormously enriched my research. Through weekly study sessions, lectures by internationally recognized scholars, the Next Generation Global Workshop, workshops at other universities to which I was introduced by KUASU, and research visits to Singapore and Taiwan, I met new people, participated in talks and exchanged ideas at least once a week, sometimes even four times a week! (An Erasmus research fellow who obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii)
