趣旨/Outline: This lecture will provide a critical analysis of the Korean Armistice system via the lens of global migration and a feminist perspective. The state of the Korean Armistice produces the division system that organizes the everyday lives of Koreans, impacting women in both North and South Korea across various aspects from militarism to the division of labor. Despite the fact that North Korean mobile women are one of the most vulnerable groups, North Korean women actively contribute to shaping gendered migration trajectories, whether to improve their own lives or move to places with better living conditions. This multifaceted agency highlights their resilience in navigating and challenging the constraints imposed by the state of the Korean Armistice and the resulting division system.
