Topic: “Ruinous Garden” Formats: Decay, Erosion and Waning in Contemporary Visual Culture

Abstract:
This talk will take the audience to a tour of several visual sites in East Asia through the prism of a time-space format proposed by photographer TOMATSU Shomei’s (1930-2012)concept of 廃園 “ruinous garden”. We will visit several visual culture sites with a focus on TODA Tsutomu’s (1951-2020) graphic design to establish the dimension of “touch” and organicity within visual expression as a way to come to terms with processes of decline.

終戦間際に福岡刑務所で獄死した韓国の国民的詩人･尹東柱（ユンドンジュ）の最後の日々を描いた作品です。
殺人事件の犯人捜しのストーリーですが、尹東柱の詩が散りばめられた美しい舞台です。
