Time: Morning Session 10:00-12:00, Afternoon Session 13:00-18:00 (Japan Time)

Abstract:
This open event will bring together key stakeholders from Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Japan, to discuss current policies and issues concerning labour migration to Japan. The morning session will unpick the details of ongoing policy changes in Japan and the impact that the ongoing crisis in Myanmar is having on outbound migration. In the afternoon session, a panel discussion will debate issues concerning recruitment fees and efforts in both countries of origin and Japan to reduce fees, and move towards a zero-recruitment fee model.
The event will be held in English with consecutive Japanese interpretation. Anyone with an interest in labour migration issues or wish to learn more about recent developments are welcome to join. The event will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person. The event is made possible thank to the support of the Toyota Foundation.
